The 30th International Congress of Vexillology (ICV) will be held in Beijing from August 12th to 19th, 2024. This will be the second time in Asia and the first time in China to host the ICV since the 23rd Congress held in Yokohama, Japan in 2009. This event provides a historic opportunity to enhance the international influence of Chinese flag culture, showcase the unique charm of Chinese flag civilization, promote exchange and mutual learning in the field of flag culture, and build a modernized flag culture powerhouse.
The ICV was first initiated in Maassluis, Netherlands in 1965, and after more than 50 years of development, it has become the top international forum for research and dissemination of vexillology. Over 70 international flag organizations from more than 50 countries, including China, have participated in the 29 previous Congresses. In order to ensure the high-quality organization of the 30th ICV in Beijing and promote the study and research of vexillology, we aim to transform Chinese flag research from niche to mainstream, from individual efforts to team leadership, and to overall elevate the level of flag academic discipline in China.
We are now inviting leading scholars for the academic forums of the 30th ICV from flag researchers, enthusiasts, related experts and scholars, academic institutions, cultural institutions, and higher education institutions from all over the world. Nationality is not restricted, as long as the candidates identify with the purpose of the 30th ICV, have a good understanding of Chinese culture, are familiar with international rules, have sufficient energy, and are capable of fulfilling the corresponding leadership responsibilities, and are willing to engage in the flag cultural cause.
The responsibilities of the leading scholars are as follows:
1.Work as the executive secretary of the respective theme forum.
2. Responsible for the evaluation of forum papers, conference speeches, conference organization, and conference services.
3. Responsible for the transformation, development, and utilization of academic achievements from the respective theme forum after the conference.
4. Responsible for the regular research, education, dissemination, and international communication activities in the field of vexillology.
Interested candidates should submit a work plan of no more than 1000 words for the planned theme forum (see attachment) before February 20th, 2024. The work plan should include academic achievements, forum organization plans, organizational resource advantages, etc., and a brief introduction of no more than 100 words for nationality, city, name, unit, job title, position, and contact information, and send it to the designated email address.

12. Painting and Calligraphy Flags: Flags in ancient and modern Chinese and foreign paintings, presentation of flag-themed calligraphy works.
13. Flag Figures: Stories of influential figures in ancient and modern Chinese and foreign history who have positive energy, historical contributions, and outstanding influence.
14. Communication Flags: Ancient flag communication, modern flag communication, flags in the modern communication industry.
15. Maritime Flags: River transportation, canal transportation, maritime transportation, maritime flags and related etiquette.
16. Public Welfare Flags: Flags of well-known international public welfare organizations and institutions.
17. Flag Products: Flag-making materials, craftsmanship, styles, innovative technologies.
18. Flagpole Products: Materials for flagpole manufacturing, craftsmanship, categories, innovative technologies.
19. Wine and Tea Flags: Historical wine flags and tea flags, changes in wine flags and tea flags throughout history, flags of well-known wine and tea companies.
